Project Details

My project “PADS for Girls” was to create a Positive-Impact, Aspirations, Dreams and Success (PADS) for Girls in poverty-stricken countries like Burkina Faso, Uganda and Republic of Congo. Many females do not even have the basic needs – sanitary supplies- to deal with their monthly period. This project was to make (sew) reusable winged pocket pads with removable insert of core absorbent layer. By making and distributing reusable pads to women and girls in poverty-stricken countries, we raised awareness of proper care and personal hygiene, thereby enabling and empowering them to lead a better life which is very important to our global community. I taught the the volunteers how to sew and how to put together the pads. I planned this event months in advance and continued to produce these pads for the organization, Lighting The Path, to this date.
